Chargers-Vikings game on Friday night was pretty exciting. Nick Novak nailed a 45-yard field goal as time expired to give the Chargers a 12-10 victory.
Awesome, right? Well, maybe not.
According to this 2011 post over at Yahoo.com, only 31% of NFL teams who had an undefeated preseason since 2000 went on to have a winning season.
The Chargers are getting dangerously close to 4-0.
The post makes a point on how the preseason victories can get fans really excited.
It’s easy for some fans to think that their team is destined for greatness when they’re the only team that wins all their preseason games. Fans tell themselves, “How good will they be when they’re actually trying? Our team has some tremendous depth and can overcome any injury!”
So here we are, heading into the fourth and final preseason game and the Bolts sit 3-0. If my math is correct, and the team pulls out a win in San Francisco on Thursday night, they’ll go UNDEFEATED!
Is it nice to win the games? Absolutely, but it doesn’t mean much, one way or the other in the preseason.
So do you want the Chargers to go 4-0 in the preseason? Or does it matter? I’m confused.
